Senior Purchasing Specialist

About the business
A global manufacturer and distributor of quality FMCG products to the retail and wholesale industry, our client’s portfolio of leading brands is some of the best and iconic in the country. With a strong manufacturing and distribution network in Australia, they are currently on the lookout for a Senior Purchasing Specialist to join their growing team.

About the role
Reporting into senior management this newly created role will see you be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of a range of goods and services used by the organisation. Working with other business units you will also focus on bringing continuity and continuous improvement to the purchasing process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement and on time receipt of cost effective and quality assured materials
    Leading the process of obtaining quotes from suppliers in accordance with production requirements

  • Cross referencing purchasing requisitions with stock on hand to ensure that excess inventory in not being built up and inventory is optimised.

  • Conducting initial price negotiations with vendors on both direct and indirect products and services.

  • Identify and recommend purchasing and procurement process improvements to the business.

  • Proposing improvements to the current purchasing system to lower the cost of business

  • Approve ordering of necessary goods and services

  • Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness

  • Monitoring stock and completing EOFY reporting

  • Review and monitor inbound deliveries and provide advice to production stakeholders on current status.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably within the FMCG manufacturing industry

  • Good communication with a sense of urgency and decisiveness

  • Strong ability to manage stakeholders.

  • Able to write, implement, and maintain policies and procedures.

  • Good to advanced literacy in Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint),

  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management would be highly regarded.
