Application Engineer

About the business 

A global manufacturer and supplier of grinding and cutting machinery, our client has steadily evolved through a determination to produce high quality machines that satisfy their customers’ requirements and exceed their expectations.

Facing an exciting period of growth, they are seeking a smart, energetic and experienced Applications Engineer to join their team in Melbourne, VIC.

About the role 

Reporting to the New Product Development Manager, you will be responsible for the design and development of the applications process of control systems for clients across the world.  

  • Liaise with Branches, Customers and Operations during the preliminary design stage to accurately determine the customer requirements from a technical perspective

  • Making accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications

  • Prepare necessary support documentation for project, to aid the installation of product using set technical and process standards

  • Developing/implementing custom demonstrations and trainings to customers and staff

  • Implement the engineering & technical standards required in the different product lifecycle phases

  • Prepare Test plans for approval by Technical Manager and documented results

  • Prepare and distribute customer grinding performance reports

  • Maintaining an in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the company

Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, preferable in electrical/ electronic, mechatronics or mechanical engineering 

  • Strong hands-on machining background with at least 3 years experienced preferably in grinding/round cutting tools, aerospace or automotive components in tool steels or very hard metals

  • Strong aptitude in CNC Controls and computer applications

  • Preferred experience in working with robots at integration and programming level

  • Successful experience identifying and implementing process improvements in machining technology

  • Ability to think methodically, prioritize and follow up on multiple tasks
