Control Systems Engineer

A global manufacturer and supplier of grinding and cutting machinery, our client has steadily evolved through a determination to produce high quality machines that satisfy their customers’ requirements and exceed their expectations.

Facing an exciting period of growth, they are seeking a smart, energetic and experienced Control Systems Engineer to join their team in Melbourne, VIC

About the role

Reporting to the New Product Development Manager, you will be responsible for the designing, programming, implementation, factory testing of control systems for clients across the world but not limited to:

  •  Interface with departments, customer and operations the preliminary design stage of the control systems to meet the customer requirements from a technical perspective

  • Provide technical support for manufacturing and service engineers from designing, programming, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the PLC software

  • Implementing the engineering and technical standards required in the different product lifecycle phases

  • Capital project designing, including estimation and financial analysis of projects

  • Designing and developing accurate servo control systems

  • Create models of systems in use to analyse for resonant frequencies, system performance, noise and vibration analysis, and stability margin

  • Tune new machines’ servo systems and establish stable production tuning

  • Development, commissioning and maintenance of PLC software to optimise machine function and special projects

  • Oversee systems for storage and retrieval of both CAD and project data

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, preferable in electrical/ electronic, mechatronics or mechanical engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Control System Engineer Experience focused on designing, programming and implementation of CNC Controller PLC software and AutoCAD

  • Experience with a system modelling tool like Simulink, Modelica, or similar

  • Proven skills tuning real-world cascaded loop systems (preferably servo systems)
